The Dallas Mavericks were originally planning a tank comeback in March, according to Kevin O’Connor of Fan Duel TV.
The decision was met with pushback from Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, who refused to participate in the matches.
In late March, the Dallas coaches met with the players to discuss a plan to play Markiff Morris and Javal McGee for heavier minutes.
According to O’Connor, “The tank was supposed to start at that time, but Luca and Kerry were angry because the team was waving the white flag and they both refused to sit down.”
The Mavs were fined $750,000 by the NBA on Friday for Tank’s actions and comments related to their April 7 game against the Bulls.
