Canada’s Olivier Maxence-Prosper will keep his name in the 2023 NBA draft and will not return to Marquette, forward ESPN said Friday.
ESPN’s Jonathan Giffoni reports that the Montreal native may sneak into the first round on June 22 after a strong performance at the Combine draft in Chicago.
“After talking to my family, my clients, and evaluating the feedback I received after combining the draft with my professional day, I decided to keep my name,” said Prosper. “Teams say they are really fascinated by me and appreciate my skill set and my ability to influence the game on both ends. I’m ready to make that leap and follow through.”
Marquette won the Big East regular season and conference tournament titles last season as six-foot-eight Prosper averaged 12.5 points in his third year at the school.
“My game translates well to the NBA,” said Prosper. “It’s a positionless league, and wingers like me can guard multiple positions, run on the ground, finish in the transition, make catch-tricks and catch-and-win ways to win plays and influence games. From what I’ve been told, there’s no reason I can’t be the first manager.” “.
