No team managed to recover from a 3-0 deficit. All three teams in NBA history who’ve gone 3-0 in a series have even lost Game 7. The Heat still have a home game, and even if they lose that, they’ve won two games at TD Garden this series. They have a number of strong role players. They have Jimmy Butler and Pam Adebayo. Perhaps the smart money is still betting on them returning to the Finals.
But the Celtics turned a lot of stuff around and put a lot of pressure on a Heat team that looks more shaky now than at any time in the postseason. The Heat had a negative point differential during the regular season and were one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the NBA. One of the most eye-opening stats over the last two games has been the Heat’s turnovers. The Celtics forced 10 turnovers in the second half of Game 4.
The Heat was the most aggressive team by far going into Games 1-3. The fact that the Celtics have turned that on its head is perhaps the most important reversal away from 3-point shooting.
