The highly anticipated second round game between the Suns and the Nuggets kicks off Saturday afternoon with the stars all over the floor.
Devin Booker led the Suns during the team’s first round against the Clippers by averaging 37 points on 60/46/85 shooting. How will he handle the Nuggets’ defensive game?
How about two-time Denver MVP Nikola Jokic, who got knocked out in the first round against the Timberwolves? Can he win a match against Deandre Ayton and surpass his score?
I finally hit the roleplaying prop, and I’m eyeing Suns’ winger Torrey Craig.
Best prop bets for Suns vs. Nuggets
- Exceed Nikola Jokic 25.5 points (-115)
- Devin Booker over 41.5 points, rebounds, assists (-113)
- Torrey Craig under 12.5 points, rebounds (-113)
Nikola Jokic surpassed 25.5 points
Jokic played in two games against the Suns in the regular season and moved to an average of 31 points. He’s a dual triple threat, but with Kevin Durant lurking on the wings and Devin Booker taking his defense to another level, I think the weak point of the Suns defense comes on the inside as Ayton struggles to defend in space and Bismack Biyombo is sick. – Equipped to guard Jokic.
I think we’re seeing a scoring explosion from the big guy in the first game of this series.
Devin Booker over 41.5 points, rebounds, assists
Poker took his game to another level. The registration numbers are as effective as they would be in a video game, and he’s proving himself a willing contributor and advocate for closing, too.
Now, he’s facing the Nuggets who are a mediocre defensive team and don’t have the outstanding defender to slow Booker down. Maybe it’s Bruce Brown or Jamal Murray, but Booker will transition into his mid-30s with ease in this game while also getting a steady diet of rebounds and helping to chip away at that total.
If the Nuggets try to blitz poker, their pass potential can increase, which is why I like to go the PRA route.
Torrey Craig has 12.5 points and a rebound
Craig had a monster streak against the Clippers, making life hell for the LA defenders as the team was busy trying to slow Booker down and Durant and Craig were snipes from the corner with ease.
However, I’m skeptical that Craig will shoot at 55% again, and with that I see a dip in his stat line. His Score Support is 7.5, which is pretty low for me. Craig doesn’t have to do much to get that, but pair that with his throwbacks and I’m in love here. He had more than seven rebound opportunities in the first round, but a lot of that had to do with the LAC small-ball lineup that was teetering a lot after Kawhi Leonard was injured.
I think Craig will see a sharp decline in production.
