Kansas City Chiefs NFL Draft Picks 2023: Scores, Fit & Poll Reports | the athlete
2nd Round – No. 55 (from Lions via Vikings): Rashee Rice, WR, SMU
How does it fit him
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best big pass players in the draft. Rice is a physically strong player without massive speed, though he plays with exceptional explosiveness, enough to cause a breakup in the air and during his run. He can get in the air and finish with anyone, strong hands — and good hands. This makes the many drops he received unforgivable. It could be a YAC machine. His general playing awareness and general focus should improve, but this feels like a sneaky fit for Andy Reid and company. – Nick Baumgardner
Analysis by Dane Brugler
Rice started a three-year stint at SMU, moving from slot to perimeter as senior coach on Rhett Lashlee’s power-spread offense. In a program that has produced a long list of high-quality receivers, he had the most prolific school history in 2022, breaking Emmanuel Sanders’ record for receiving yards and ranking first in the FBS with 112.9 yards per game.
With his ability to frame catches, Rice doubles down on jump catches and wins on jump shots, leading FBS with 18 catches over 20 air yards downfield in 2022. Although he makes tough catches look easy, he’s also guilty of dropping some balls. Cakewalk will be self-employed at will.

FRISCO – Former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott remains unsigned but may have a new home soon. And he could be a competitor.
As part of the USAA Salute to Service Chalk Talk, Heavy Sports spoke with Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco, who looks set to be joined by Elliott at KC.
“Ezekiel Elliott, that’s my dog. I’ve been watching him grow up, watching a movie on him, taking [down] Details, notes [on his game],” Pacheco told Heavy Sports. “Just finding ways to get better on the court is something I take very personally.
“Hi, I’m with her [Elliott signing with the Chiefs], whoever makes the decision. I’m ready and I’m ready to compete if he’s ready. So, we’ll see.”

Kansas City Chiefs
SMU WR Rashi Rice (No. 55 overall)
Oklahoma OT Wanya Morris (No. 92)
First day: B-analysis: The Chiefs traded their compensatory third-round pick for Kadarius Toney but still needed a pass catcher. They traded in the second round to pick Rice, one of my favorites in the class because of his size, strong hands, and ability to make defenders miss after getting caught. Kansas City pulled ahead again for swing tackle on Morris, boosting the offensive line. This is a fine example of a very talented team willing to forgo late round picks to find value on the second day.
The Case for Frank Clark’s Return to the Kansas City Chiefs | Arrow addict
Perhaps Clark’s unacknowledged contribution to the 2022 team was working with then-rookie George Karlaftis in the most recent offseason. This sort of thing, along with excellent coaching from defensive line coach Joe Cullen, can accelerate Ozuma’s growth and maturation. Last season, the Chiefs had the league’s second-leading assists. Clark’s return makes this group the deepest situation they can handle with an injury or two. Just last year, the Chiefs lost Tershawn Wharton at defensive inside. Luckily for them, Kalen Saunders was there to help pick up the slack.
Clark brings championship experience, leadership and an old defensive mindset to the table. Its importance to a young group of defensive players is impossible to underestimate. Even someone who recently won a power. He may never come home like he used to, but he still generates plenty of pressure and has enough juice to play the important shots.
The father and son who played for the Chiefs to announce their draft pick | Fox 4
The NFL will welcome two former Kansas City Chiefs players to the draft stage Friday night.
Ed and Brad Budde will announce the Chiefs’ pick during the second or third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. As every player in the league plays, it will be the first time either will witness a crowd like the one expected to appear on Friday.
Both father and son played for the Kansas City Chiefs a decade later.
The 2023 NFL Draft has begun, and the first round has officially concluded. With some crazy choices, deals, and bumps, it sure didn’t let us down.
“We’re father and son first, drafted in the first round by the same team. And then there’s more. We both played at left offensive guard. And on top of that. We’re both No. 71,” Brad Boddy said.
Spot analysis of Chiefs pick Oklahoma OT Wanya Morris at pick #92 | wire heads
Maurice indeed It just happens to be one of my years in the 2023 NFL. He is a good size at 6-foot-5, 307 pounds, with a spot flex to play right tackle, left tackle, and both point guard. He played with Trey Smith at Tennessee before moving to Oklahoma, so he has some familiarity with the player he might play alongside in Kansas City.
Motor skills are present in the running game and movement is present in the passing game. If there’s one worry coming out of college, it’s punch timing. He can miss sometimes and this leads to some shots where he is caught lunging.
In the running game, he has a bit of a bad streak and seems to be the typical runner that coaches really look up to. He’s also a former five-star recruit from high school, so I feel Morris is still loaded with untapped potential until he gets into the next level.
Rashi Rice, SMU
Predraft Likelihood Score: 81.2 (9)
Peripheral Grade: 70 (13)
Road readiness score: 83 (fifth)
Possible volume score: 90 (V)
Blast score: 82 (tenth)
Yardage creation score: 82 (IX)I didn’t expect Rice to be selected in the second round as the seventh receiver off the plate. Of the 18 rookie wide receivers I evaluated, Rashi Rice has the ninth-highest score, but he’ll likely move to seventh or eighth after adjusting his NFL capital. After the Kansas City investment, Rice is a legitimately interesting fantasy option for 2023 and beyond. There are definitely things to like about a prospect’s profile, and this kind of venture capital makes those things easier to believe.
The two areas that stand out in Rice’s profile are volume score (ranked fifth out of 18 receivers) and road readiness score (also fifth). The lack of track readiness has been a major red flag in the profile of both Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney so Kansas City trade up to add a four year wide that has produced over 3,000 yards while filling a variety of roles is definitely interesting . The Super Bowl champs may very well see that Rice is able to contribute in an important way as a rookie.
Kelce Jam attracts thousands of passionate music fans and Chiefs | KCTV 5
The DJ’s countdown signaled his entry. The two-time Super Bowl winner, recent SNL host, and now namesake of his own music and food festival wasn’t just the party host; He was the life of the party.
He stunned the crowd with a replica of the Lombardy Cup, doused it with liqueur and then threw it on the ground. He led several vocals, including his Beastie Boys signature song “Fight for Your Right” and House of Pain’s “Jump Around,” and he rocks some impressive dance moves.
Based on all the Chiefs’ gear in the audience, it was clear that people probably came for the food and the music, but the big draw was Kelsey’s charisma.
The lineup of music was diverse, as was the audience. Many particularly committed fans traveled from both coasts and sat outside the gates 12 hours before they opened so they could get as close to the stage as possible for the Machine Gun Kelly filming.
bosses She chose the former lead in high school and the K-State Wildcat in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City.
Former high school soccer coach Anodice-Uzuma, journalism teacher, and classmate all celebrated it Friday reminiscing about their time together just a few short years ago.
“Felix has turned himself into where he is now,” said Eric Thomas, head football coach at Lee’s Summit High School. “With Felix Mann, it’s just a bunch of hard work,” he said.
“It was chaos and fights,” she said.

The winners
1) Brad Holmes, General Manager, Detroit Lions: Holmes started the draft with five draft picks in the first three rounds, used them brilliantly, and rolled them through a series of trades to six players by the end of Friday night, including a QB to develop them for the future. He showed some solid conviction on Day 1, returning to Alabama pick running back Jahmir Gibbs and landing Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell on the 18th — jumping out to two prospects who, in his words, are “ready to go now, Even if several draft classes bailed on picks after the fact. In the second round, Holmes limited himself to more needs. Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta should make up for the departure of TJ Hockenson in a mid-season trade with Minnesota last year. Alabama safety Brian Branch is smart, versatile, and another asset in the secondary that needed an overhaul. And in the third round, Holmes caught Tennessee signal caller Hendon Hooker, who could be groomed as an eventual replacement for Jared Goff, then cashed in three third-day picks in a trade that allowed him to take Western Kentucky defensive tackle in first place for Broderick Martin. 96.
Will Levis, after the NFL’s free-fall draft, in the second round by the Titans | ESPN
After dropping out of the first round of the NFL Draft, Will Levis found a home with the NFL Tennessee Titanswho traded Friday night to select the former Kentucky quarterback with pick No. 33 overall.
After not taking a quarterback in the first round on Thursday, the Titans made a solid move for a potential future quarterback after one night by agreeing to a trade with Arizona Cardinalswho earned a second round selection (No. 41 overall) and a third round selection (No. 72) in this year’s draft and third in 2024.
“Last night was tough,” said Levis. “I knew what was meant to happen would happen. It’s one of those things where you feel like you’re going to treat yourself and be an author, but then the waterworks start flowing and the feelings get overwhelming.”

The leaders pick ranking for Kansas State defensive end put Felix Anodic-Uzuma at 31
On Friday night, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to their 55th second-round pick NFL Draft To select wide receiver SMU Rashee Rice.
When Rice comes to Kansas City, he already has some familiarity with two of the quarterbacks on the roster — starting with former SMU quarterback Shane Buechele.
“I talked to him the whole time during the draft process,” Rice told reporters in Kansas City on a Zoom conference call Friday night. I ran ways with him too. He called me as soon as he called my name on TV.
“I mean, that’s my guy. I know we’re going to have a great connection. We’re just ready to make some plays like we did in college.”
But Rice also spent time with Kansas City’s most famous quarterback: Patrick Mahomes. After selecting Rice, We learned that Rice was among the favorites to catch balls from Mahomes (and other current Chiefs) during away practices for the quarterback in Fort Worth, Texas.
