Anthony retired with 28,289 points, 11th on the all-time list, as well as 10 All-Star nods and six All-NBA selections.
He was the #3 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and spent his first seven seasons changing hands with the Denver Nuggets, a franchise that had long been a laughing stock upon his arrival.
But several years later, he turned them into a contender and led them to the 2009 Western Conference Finals, where they narrowly played Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers before losing in six games.
The Syracuse University product was then traded to his hometown team, the New York Knicks, midway through the 2010-11 season before heading to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017.
After unsuccessful stints with the Thunder and Houston Rockets, it looked like it was over, but the Portland Trail Blazers took a flyer on him early in the 2019-20 season, allowing him to reinvent himself as a 3-point specialist off the bench, which bought him three. other seasons.
Anthony has yet to win an NBA championship, but he is a confirmed Hall of Famer, and has already garnered a lot of respect for his work as a social justice activist off the court, winning the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Hero Award in 2021.
