Windham Clark has risen to 13th in the Official World Golf Ranking and is a point clear of Brooks Koepka on the heels of his huge win at the US Open.
Clark was ranked 241 in the world the day after the 2022 US Open, but he’s racked up a pair of wins – and more than $8 million in winnings – in the past six weeks.
Clark outsold Rory McIlroy at the Los Angeles Country Club. With a final total of 10-under 270, Clarke won by one shot. On the 72nd hole, Clark pulled from 60 feet to make an even pressure, releasing a fountain of emotion amidst his Sunday celebration.
McIlroy came up just short in his attempt to end a nine-year major drought and is third-last behind Scotty Scheffler and John Rahm. Scheffler has 608.43 points, the Spanish Ram has 473.78 points and Northern Ireland’s McIlroy has 425.27 points.
Patrick Cantlay is No. 4 followed by Victor Hovland (Norway), Xander Schauffele and Australian Cameron Smith.
Hovland, 25, won the Memorial Championship last week and finished second at the PGA Championship.
Rickie Fowler reaches 35th – a jump of 10 points – with a gain of 86.88 points. He tied for fifth at the US Open and had three consecutive top-10 finishes (Charles Schwab Challenge, Memorial).
