Victor Wimpanyama has set his sights on the NBA as the No. 1 draft pick in this year’s draft.
However, playing in the NBA isn’t the only goal the French star has in mind. He is already thinking about the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris.
Wimpanyama has one specific goal in mind for the 2024 Games.
“You know the Olympics are in Paris in 2024,” Wimpanyama told French radio station Pascal Giberny last fall. via ESPN. “And there couldn’t be a more perfect opportunity for me to win my first title with the French national team. My goal is to beat Team USA in the final.”
The United States has won four consecutive Olympic gold medals in men’s basketball. France lost to the United States 87-82 in the gold medal game at the Tokyo Olympics. Wimpanyama, 19, was not in the squad then but is clearly aiming to be a difference-maker next summer.
