The future is now for the Spurs, as top seed Victor Wimpanyama is set to make his NBA debut in the Las Vegas Summer League on Friday night.
Wembanyama’s much anticipated debut drew a sell-out crowd of over 17,500 for the first day of the 11-day summer league event on the UNLV campus.
“I can’t wait,” Wimbanyama told The Guardian News agency Thursday. The practices lately have been very intense. I got a little stuck in basketball with the draft and stuff, and I couldn’t really get into the sport. I’m back in shape and I can’t wait. “I’m having a lot of fun,” he added.
He revealed that Wimpanyama is not expected to play in every Summer League game for Tottenham, but he will play in at least one or two games in Vegas.
Three and a half hours before Wimpanyama’s debut Friday night, crowds were already swarming inside the sold-out Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. AndscapeMark Spears noted that there were more than 500 members of the media who were credited for the game Friday night.
