SUNRISE – On Tuesday night, the Las Vegas Golden Knights captured their first Stanley Cup when they hosted the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.“Obviously, a situation where we have to win. I’ve been there before,” said Eric Stahl of the Panthers. “For me personally, I’ve been on the other side of it. You’ve been to the Stanley Cup Final going 3-1. It’s not easy. There is some pressure there. There are a lot of variables that go with it: family, friends, and the cup on the block. Your mind can wander.
“For us, it’s just about winning tomorrow night and having fun and playing as hard as we can and getting a W and then bringing it home. That’s our focus. That’s all it can be.”
The Golden Knights gave the Panthers a solid drive in the third period on Sunday, especially in the closing minutes of the game.
“It’s surprisingly loose,” said Sam Bennett of the Panthers. “I think everyone is very confident. Excited to play tomorrow. Everyone is still in a good mood. We know it’s a tough place, but everyone is in a really good mood.”
Adin Hill stood tall and big in the Vegas net to seal a 3-2 win for the Knights.
“I mean, starting in my career as a kid, I’ve faced adversity as well,” Hill said. “You get cut from teams. You don’t make the team you want to be. I wasn’t drafted to the WHL. You’ll always have bumps in the road. It’s just sticking to the plan, not changing your course of action or thinking, just keeping going.”
A goalie the Golden Knights needed, Hill put together an impressive 10-4 record this postseason with a 2.11 goals-against average. 934 save percentage and fired two touchdowns.
“It’s probably the best I’ve played,” Hill said. “I’m having fun, just enjoying it. The team is having a good time, too. It’s the best that almost everyone in this locker room has played. That’s what it takes to win the Stanley Cup. We just have to keep it going.”
As of Tuesday morning, Panthers all-around Matthew Tkachuk is listed as inexplicable to play in Game5.
“We’re not excited about being in the situation we’re in,” Stahl said. “Nobody wants to lose 3-1, but our guys enjoy being around each other, enjoying being on the rink, enjoying the everyday experiences in this league. Today was a good day to get together and talk things through and talk about what we can do tomorrow to win. That’s our focus. “.
Tkachuk was the reason the Panthers reached the final.
“The update will be tomorrow,” Florida coach Paul Morris said. “We’ve been at an optional point for the last couple of months in terms of skating (on) rest days, but you’ll get all that big info tomorrow night.” Trailing 3-1 and facing elimination in a best-of-7 series, Florida will definitely miss Tkachuk if he can’t play. He is associated with the Vegas striker Jonathan Marquessault and Dallas Stars forward Rob Hintz NHL Champion with 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists) in 20 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The fifth match is set for Tuesday in Las Vegas.
“Have some fun” forward Carter Verhaghe He said. “There’s no reason to be upset there. They’re in the driver’s seat. We only play one game, try to win one game. We’ve won one game before. Play a little bit there, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.”
