La-La Land is the center of the golf world this week as the world’s top golfers compete in the 123rd US Open. Here’s everything you need to know about the 156 golfers playing at Los Angeles Country Club.
2023 US Open preview
The world of golf was turned upside down last week with the shocking news of PGA Tour-LIV Golf, but as players head out west, the focus has been (mostly) on golf.
Defending champion Matthew Fitzpatrick arrived in the LACC looking to become the eighth player to win back-to-back US Open titles after his solid victory in Brookline last summer. To do this, he will have to avoid fierce competition.
Brooks Koepka, after winning the PGA Championship last month, is aiming for his sixth major title as he heads into Hollywood with his edgier style as he has been for years. If he can lift the trophy, he will become the seventh man to win at least three US Open titles.
John Rahm and Scottie Scheffler, the top two in the world rankings, are also in the field as they each look to add to their major totals, while Rory McIlroy looks to break his winless drought in big balls and claim his fifth major. Title.
