UFC star Paddy Pimblett has given his thoughts on Bellator and the PFL as fighters continue to sign deals with both promotions.
While he may be a huge star, Buddy Pemblett has been in some trouble lately. In addition to some fans turning against him, the Liverpudlian is currently on the shelf following ankle surgery. It comes on the heels of his controversial win over Jared Gordon, with many believing he should not have raised his hand.
Outside of the UFC, Bellator and the PFL continue to thrive and grow their products alongside the top dogs. Many free agents are starting to head there, whether it’s because they’re paid or because they haven’t made it to the UFC yet.
When asked what would have happened if he had been offered an offer by the UFC, Pimblett had the following to say.
Of course, it would have been a tougher decision (if Bellator or the PFL had tried to sign him). I was looking forward to getting away from MMA at 4-1 because I wasn’t paid enough. I was going to get out of MMA when I was 18. I was paid like £500 to fight, stupid thing like that. It wasn’t enough.
Pimblett’s Ideas for PFL
“So I can understand a lot of fighters now who go to the PFL and go to Bellator. But, if you have a dream that you want to be in the UFC, (which) I think 99 out of 100 MMA fighters dream of being in the UFC. Nobody wakes up. In the morning and he goes, “I want to fight for Bellator, me.” Or, “I want to fight for the PFL.” The only reason people go to the PFL is to try to make a million dollars with easier fights.”
