Track key injuries and updates on the 2023 NBA Playoffs appeared in the original NBC Sports Philadelphia
The NBA Playoffs pit the league’s biggest stars against each other to see who wins, but injuries can unfortunately change games.
At the end of Week 1 of the 2023 playoffs, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered injuries that ruled them out for the remainder of their inaugural contest.
Morant fell awkwardly on his right hand after a big fall to the basket, while Antetokounmpo fell roughly on his back trying to throw the ball.
Let’s take a look at the major injuries of the teams in the 2023 NBA Playoffs:
Western Conference
Denver Nuggets
C Nikola Jokic (wrist): The Nuggets have listed Jokic as a suspect for the Wednesday 2 game, but all indications are that he will play in the game.
Los Angeles Clippers
G/F Paul George (knee): George is is expected to miss the first-round series against Phoenix.
Memphis Grizzlies
JJ Morant (hand): The X-ray came back clean after Morant hit the hand, but he is listed as questionable for Game 2 against Los Angeles Lakers. Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Tuesday that Morant’s decision would be game time.
C Stephen Adams (knee): Adams Possible Out of the playoffs with a knee injury.
F/C Brandon Clark (Achilles): Clark will miss the season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon in March.
Phoenix Suns
J. Chris Paul (hand): Paul had an x-ray of his right hand after the Suns’ Game 2 win over clippers And she came back clean.
Sacramento Kings
C Domantas Sabonis (Shear): After undergoing an X-ray that came back negative Monday night after a Draymond green stomp, the Kings declared Sabonis on Tuesday questionable for Game 3 on Thursday due to a sternal contusion.
Eastern Conference
Miami Heat
J Tyler Hero (hand): Hero broke the middle and ring finger on his right hand near the end of the first half against Milwaukee in Game 1 on Sunday while diving for a loose ball. It is expected to be out in four to six weeks Chris Haynes from TNT and Bleacher Report.
Milwaukee Bucks
F Giannis Antetokounmpo (Rear): Antetokounmpo suffered a lower back contusion and missed the remainder of Sunday’s Game 1 vs heat. It was upgraded from doubtful to doubtful on the Wednesday before game two.
