The Los Angeles Clippers didn’t go down without a fight.
On the brink of elimination, they threatened to survive Tuesday with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in streetwear.
But Devin Booker held off the threat with a 47-point lead. The Phoenix Suns’ leading scorer scored 25 in a 50-point third quarter for the Suns who trailed 70-61 at halftime to a 111-94 lead at the break of the third quarter. The hot stretch didn’t put Los Angeles far away.
Phoenix had to fade in a fourth-quarter Clippers rally that included a 12-0 run to hold on to a 136-130 win. The Clippers cut the Suns’ 20-point lead to nearly 132-130 in the final two minutes. But a Kevin Durant touchdown pass put Phoenix up by four, and the Clippers never scored again.
