The Boston Red Sox were enjoying a triumphant comeback for the Celtics from losing 3-0 to lock in three titles and force a win-or-go-home Game 7.
Thanks to a sneaky tip from Derrick White, the Boston Celtics head into Game 7 against the Miami Heat after looking like the smaller team in the first three games, trailing 3-0.
They can pull off one of the most impressive comebacks in NBA history. In fact, this would be the first ever comeback from a 3-0 loss in league history. Arguably, the Celtics could pull off the biggest comeback of all time.
That game will be on Tuesday, and right now, Celtics fans are flying high, but nervously anticipating the final game of the series along with the Miami fans.
Jimmy Butler and the Heat secured the Game Six win but did not pull it off. The world reacted as you might expect, by totally cranking up the heat.
The Red Sox also got involved in the celebration with a reaction of their own.
Sox reaction Celtics reaction to Game 7
The Boston Red Sox responded to the Celtics’ tweet announcing the forced Game 7, “We love a Game 7.”
This can only be assumed to be a reference, at least loosely, to the 2004 ALCS where the Yankees went 3-0 (including a 19-8 win in Game 3), only to lose four in a row to the Red Sox. Boston went on to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.
This is, to this day, the only time an MLB team has come back from a 3-0 deficit, although there are more better-than-five postseason series in MLB than in the NBA, so there are fewer theoretical chances for a 3-0 to happen.
The Celtics are up against and looking to make history, just as the Red Sox did in 2004. Whoever comes out of this series awaits the Denver Nuggets, who have been resting since Monday after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers to win the Western. conference championship.
