With a sixth-round pick and potential final selection of the 2023 NHL Draft, the NY Rangers have moved ahead Ty Henricks out of the USHL. Like Dylan Robrock, Henricks is a giant who doesn’t do much. At 6’5 and 200 pounds, the Rangers love guys like him in the later rounds, which is a great reason (see what I did there?) why they never catch those late guys. Size without skill is useless in the NHL.
However, you never know what happens with these late round picks. It would be nice to craft a guy with tools you didn’t put together, but that doesn’t seem to be the Rangers’ style. They had a good plan with their first two picks, but then got off the board with the Giants and Giants in the later rounds. Not a strategy I like, and it’s been proven many times that it simply doesn’t work.
I will tell others about the players themselves.
