For the past few years, Damon Severson has been a key member of the New Jersey Devils. However, just as he was about to become a free agent and demand a large salary, he was traded.
The Devils signed Severson to a complex signing-and-trade deal worth $50 million over eight years, with an average annual value of $6.25 million.
Then, he would be dealt to the Blue Jackets in the third round.
