The British Basketball Association has announced the launch of the ‘Golden Ball Treasure Hunt’, a campaign designed to increase participation and awareness around the end-of-season playoff finals, and give eight lucky individuals the chance to win a pair of . Tickets to be in the final.
The treasure hunt begins on Monday 24th April as a golden ball will appear in each of the eight qualifying teams’ hometowns. Over the next two weeks, the ball will embark on a journey through the local town, visiting schools, local landmarks, and many other places. Individuals looking to join in the fun will want to keep an eye on the local BBL team’s social media as they will share clues as to where the ball is.
To enter and have a chance to win tickets, those who come across the ball will be encouraged to take a picture with the ball and upload it to either Instagram or Twitter tagging @BBLOfficial and using the hashtags #NowYouKnow[+ team second name e.g. Riders] And #Golden Ball.
The Ballon d’Or will stop at each of the team’s home matches in the quarter-finals, during which those who also attend the match will have the opportunity to enter the competition.
Eight winners will be chosen at random on Monday 8th May and individuals will receive a pair of tickets to attend the BBL Play-Off Finals at the O2 Arena in London on Sunday 14th May.
Commenting on the campaign, British Basketball League Head of Marketing and Communications, Joe Edwards, said: “We are really excited to launch the Ballon d’Or activation as we continue to build on the #KnowOurName and #NowYouKnow campaigns and continuously raise awareness of the British Basketball League. The purpose of this campaign is to build support in local communities, interacting with existing and new fans, and ultimately rewarding fans for their support throughout the season.”
