Galen Bronson Literally leaving everything on the floor on Wednesday night.
He scored 38 points in 48 minutes to help lift New York to the A’s Extended season beat the Heat.
“What can you say about the guy? It’s incredible.” Tom Thibodeau Bronson said after NixGame 5 win. “An all-around player. A great leader. Great toughness. Mental toughness. Physical toughness. The ability to think on his feet. The ability to lead. The ability to connect with people and bring out the best in them. That’s what makes him special.”
Brunson’s special performance in Game 5 included nine rebounds and seven assists while on the floor for every second of the win. He became the first player in Knicks history to score 38+ points, grab nine or more rebounds, and hand out seven or more assists in a playoff game.
“This is JB, this is what he’s been doing all year, ultimately at the core of his character,” he said. Julius Randel Bronson said. “He’s competitive. He wants to win. He left it all out there tonight. He carried us in a big way.”
The Knicks have a huge fan base. It’s almost impossible to find something all fans agree on. But you’d be hard-pressed to find a Nick fan who doesn’t think the club took a hit with Bronson’s signing.
“He makes the right play every time,” said Thibodeau.
He helped Knicks live to fight another night. They will face off against the Heat in Game 6 on Friday night in Miami. Even if they lose on Friday, you’ll still be able to say this about the Knicks: For the first time in at least two decades, the Knicks have the stability of the point guard position.
This stability helped them get through a 10-13 start to the season. This helped them reach Game 6 in the second qualifying round for only the second time this century.
The Knicks are now heading to Miami in great shape. Much better than when they left South Florida after Game 4.
After losing Game 4 on Monday, Nick’s players and coaches got into a heated verbal confrontation in the visitor’s locker room, SNY has learned. It included airing frustration after a loss that put their season on life support.
But the verbal spat did not seem to affect the team on Wednesday night. They beat a tough Miami team to extend their season for at least one more game. This was Bronson’s focus shortly after the fifth game.
“There is nothing to celebrate about,” he said after the win. “Obviously we won, we’ll see another day. That’s great, but we have to go get one there.”
