After being the laughing stock of the NBA for nearly two decades, the Sacramento Kings finally managed to put together a solid season during the 2022-23 campaign, locking in the third seed in the Western Conference and ending the longest running drought in the NBA.
With the Kings knowing they have a talented roster that might be competitive for quite some time, Sacramento is heading into this season hoping to keep their roster intact while adding a few pieces here and there.
On Wednesday, the Kings made a move to deal with their roster for next season, as the team picked Kessler-Edwards, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Sources told ESPN that the Sacramento Kings are picking up Kessler Edwards’ $1.9 million team option for the 2023-2024 season.

Even though he didn’t play a substantial role on the team last season, head coach Mike Brown and company still see some hope in the Pepperdine product and are willing to shell out $1.9 million to keep moving forward.
The real question going forward is whether the Kings will have great success in NBA free agency, as the team will have plenty of room to make a significant addition or two to the team.
The latest rumors suggest that the Kings are a possible suitor for veteran forward Draymond Green if the four-time NBA champ isn’t sold upon return to the Golden State Warriors or if the team plans to give him a low-profile offer in free agency.
Green’s addition would be a solid addition to the team and could be enough to get him to where he wants to rival the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets in the West.
