Heading into the NBA offseason, the New Orleans Pelicans were expected to be one of the most aggressive teams around, with the team rumored to be looking at trading in the 2023 NBA Draft with their sights set on bringing in guard Scoot Henderson.
Obviously, that didn’t happen, as the team is likely unable to put together a trade package that doesn’t include one of their star players in Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram.
Outside of signing to a new deal Herb Jones, arguably the team’s best defensive player, the Pelicans haven’t done much this summer and there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Williamson and his future.
With Williamson now dealing with some issues off the court along with his weight and injury issues, the future doesn’t look all that bright for the former year’s No. 1 pick, with Volume Sports’ Jason Timpf being the latest to jump. camper.

The Pelicans may have missed the opportunity to trade Williamson before things started to get ugly and worrisome for the star forward from Duke.
However, the team may have already tried to move him this summer and couldn’t because of concerns about his long-term future and all the things circulating on social media.
Despite what may ultimately be a bleak future for Williamson, if the Pelicans can get him in shape and motivation ahead of next season, New Orleans may still have something special with him and Ingram leading the way in the Big Easy.
It might be an exaggeration to expect him to return to Earth healthy and in good shape, but if that happens, few players will be able to match him on Earth.
