A week ago, Golden State trailed 2-0 in this series against Sacramento, feeling their fans were on the verge of elimination. However, inspired by their superstar Stephen Curry, they took the game all the way to beat their rivals in Game 7, right after winning their last two games on the road in front of a roaring Kings crowd.
The Warriors’ playoff point guard slid into the top 50 and hit the NBA history books on Sunday, making the most points scored by any player in Game 7 of the postseason. Kevin Durant used to own that record in 2021 when he had 48 putouts for the Brooklyn Nets against the Bucks.

Curry didn’t take all the credit last night, however, as he made sure to show some appreciation for his teammates, especially quarterback Kevin Looney, who grabbed 21 rebounds in Golden State’s 120-100 Game 7 victory.
“In the last couple of years, we’ve been rooted inside,” the Warriors star expressed in a post-game interview. “We’re not the biggest team. He and Draymond [Green] Try to control the paint all game, all year, all playoffs. … It’s huge for us because, in every series, he finds a way to make an impact.
“Loud — not to the points, it’s all the dirty work he has to do. We love him for that.”
Looney was crucial for San Francisco throughout the entire series against the Kings, averaging 14.2 rebounds per game, including 4.5 on the offensive side.
“I always believed I could come back. But I would always get really close and then something weird would happen,” the Warriors big man said Sunday. “I always had faith in the coaching staff and myself. But I don’t know if everyone believes in me.
His coach was also impressed with him and even went on to say how proud he was to be counted on such a consistent player. “It’s always a great honor for a player to play 82 games and as a coach to be able to count on someone 82 times,” Kerr said. “It’s amazing, especially to be ‘Loon’ given what he’s been through in his career.”
Curry has received praise from players and coaches from across the NBA
Now that Golden State has eliminated Sacramento, the Western Conference semifinals will have another game from California, as LeBron James and the now Los Angeles Lakers will take on Team Curry. James and the Warriors have a lot of NBA Finals history, dating back to his days with the Cavaliers.
Take a look at the highlights from Sunday’s match as tensions ran high at Golden 1 Arena:
The reigning champs point guard was highlighted in this postseason, receiving praise from players and coaches from across the NBA.
“These guys are champions,” said coach Steve Kerr after the game, “the champions for a year, four in the last eight years, these guys know the deal.” “There’s a sense of confidence and a sense that we’re going to get it done.”
Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan took it to social media to say, “Chef Curry is a bad guy!!” ‘, while Hawks star Trae Young wrote: ‘Unreal performance. Steve is different.’ Jamal Crawford was another person who showered the base guard with his amazement. “Curry is a masterpiece!!” Posted, as the Blazers’ Anfernee Simons added, “Steph cold lol.”
