UFC middleweight contender Shawn Strickland really likes to stand up for himself, but only capable opponents.
Tarzan has been sidelined since his main event match against Nasredin Imamov in January. In that bout, Strickland scored a unanimous decision victory over the “Russian Sharpshooter”. This victory snapped a losing streak for the challenger, having previously lost to Alex Pereira and Jared Cannonier.
However, the middleweight contender is now scheduled to return in July against Abu Sobyan Magomedov. In preparation for his comeback, there is no doubt that Strickland has been training and doing a lot of tough competition. The middleweight is known for his tough sparring sessions, which is probably why he almost got into a fight with Mike Jackson.
UFC’s The Truth was released in January, ending a memorable stint with the company. Jackson has faced the likes of Mickey Gall and CM Punk in his promotional campaign. However, it was his high-profile incident with Jake Shields at UFC PI last year that generated many of the headlines.
However, Sean Strickland reportedly reached out to the welterweight to fight back, as he mentioned in his article Podcast. However, according to the middleweight competitor, he canceled the session after seeing Jackson’s professional record.

“I think there are many UFC fighters out there [anyone] said Sean Strickland in the conversation alongside Chris Curtis. “There are some UFC fighters who shouldn’t be in the UFC. They come into the gym, and I’m like, ‘How are you here?’ Like, that racist guy, your friend, the black guy? Jake Shields hates?”
He continued, “Mike Jackson! Very funny story about Mike Jackson, any time I see someone big, small, white, purple, brown, I’m like ‘Let’s fight.’ I see him at PI, and I’m like ‘Hey, we should get rid of dude’ “You’re a middleweight, you’re a middleweight and I’m a middleweight. Let’s see how big this d*ck is,” right? So, I’m about to leave to go fight him and I’m googling his history, and I just call him out like, “Dude, I don’t have self-control man, that’s not a good idea.”
“What do I do? I go in there, and it will be like hitting a child. It will be like fighting a woman, I have no desire to do that.”
What do you think of these comments from Sean Strickland? Are you excited for his next fight?
