Jake Paul announced he would face Nate Diaz in his latest boxing spectacle in August, but could that lead to a fight in MMA, under the PFL banner? Meanwhile, Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Sam Alvey is moving up to heavyweight. It’s Sunday, you know what that means – time for Sunday MMA Quick Actions!
Sam Alvey is back…at heavyweight?
It’s almost surprising that this fight won’t be coming up in the UFC. Can’t you see Sam Alvey jumping at the chance to be a replacement on short notice for Chase Sherman, or in another heavyweight preliminary bout?
Instead, Alvey will be putting up a heavy fight under the B2FS banner when he fights Cameron Graham at B2FS 183 on May 27.
Former UFC middleweight Sam Alvey is back on the regional scene after parting ways with the UFC a few months ago.
He locks horns with heavyweight Cameron “Big Mac” Graham who has a record of 5-12.

Graham is an uninspired 5-12 as a pro, while Alvey has been 0-8-1 in his last nine fights with the UFC — an outrageous number considering the amount of young talent that has been cut after suffering back-to-back losses. We’re not knocking Sam either – his fights are usually entertaining enough, but it still seemed like he had serious dirt on the UFC matchmakers. Or he has some real juggling skills.
Worst beef of the year?
There’s something no journalist in a niche market should do trying to create meat with another journalist (in fact, no journalist should go that route to a period of fame). So you can count the renewed feud between “The Schmo” and Ariel Helwani among the nominees for the worst beef of 2023.
Helwani’s response to Schmo (released in an interview recently Discuss Helwani’s fight with Shawn Strickland, although Strickland brought it up in Schmo’s defense) during the MMA Hour with Chris Curtis segment above. The bottom line is that it stems from Halawani introducing “The Schmo” – which he basically interviews as a kind of “no-nothing” Joe Schmo – A fictitious email address when they first met several years ago.
Halawani denies this. Shammo insists that this happen. The idea that they should be fighting over is absurd. To respond loudly and publicly about this sounds like a guy complaining about a girl giving him a fake number at the bar — look, buddy, she just wasn’t into you. I continue.
Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz in the NFL?
PFL exec Peter Murray was on hand for PFL Card 3 on Friday in Las Vegas, as was Cageside Press. We asked Murray about Jake Paul’s potential to take on Nate Diaz in MMA, something he teased when Paul announced he would be wrestling Diaz in August.
We heard directly from Jake, sure. We had that conversation as a potential deal, and the focus that made sense. Focus on boxing first. We’ll see what happens after the fight,” Murray said. “We’ll see if Jake gets into the cage with Nate to end that score. Most likely, but what I can tell you is when Jake makes his MMA debut next year, it will be against a top talent, and a major opponent. “
So this maybe then?
Former WWE star John Morrison won a boxing match against Epic Mealtime guy
This is either stupidly funny, or the bottom of the celebrity boxing barrel, which likely depends on how you view the whole fad. John Morrison was a mid-level player in WWE who last year made a brief appearance in AEW before jumping to MLW.
Epic Meal Time is your grandfather’s Youtube channel, and has been irrelevant since the mid-2010s, when eating stupid, high-calorie meals peaked as a trend.
Of course, someone has decided that Morrison vs. Harley Morenstein from Epic Meal Time is the boxing match to watch in 2023.
okay then.
