Before the Los Angeles Lakers can even consider contending for the NBA Championship next season, they need to make sure LeBron James will be a part of that race.
After the Denver Nuggets knocked them out of the Western Conference Finals, James He made a vague comment which many interpreted as suggesting he might retire in the off-season. Few believe he would actually do it, but no one can really be sure, given James’ history of leaving teams every few years.
James’ longtime agent, Rich Paul, was in the Cleveland area Friday to launch Klutch Athletics, his new sportswear brand. Inevitably, someone asked him if James would return to the NBA for his 21st season this fall, and Paul gave an answer without giving anything away.

“I have expectations, as do you,” said Paul. “we will see.”
James has two years left on his contract with the Lakers, and the second year of that deal is a player option in the 2024-25 season. He has said several times that he wants to play alongside his son, Bronie James, who can enter the NBA as soon as the 2024-25 season.
