Trent Jr., 24, picked up his $18.5 million player option on June 20, electing to stay with Toronto for another year before testing out the free agent market.
He joined the Raptors at the 2021 trade deadline in a deal that sent Norman Powell to the Portland Trail Blazers. He then signed a three-year, $51.8 million contract that included a player option after the 2021 season.
The guard will enter his sixth year in the league and is eligible for a four-year, $113.6 million extension. He is represented by Klutch Sports agent Lucas Newton.
Former teammate Fred Van Fleet, who is also represented by Kloch, signed a max contract with the Houston Rockets earlier Friday, leaving a hole in the Toronto backcourt. The Raptors have since signed Dennis Schroeder.
Trent Jr. was one of the Raptors’ best shooters last season, knocking down 36.9 percent of his looks from outside the arc. He averaged 17.4 points and 1.6 steals per game last season.
