Parker, formerly a GM assistant, replaces John Hammond, who is moving into a senior advisory position.
Parker will work under President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman, a Raptors executive for four years before joining the Magic in 2017.
After his first NBA stint ended without much of an impact, Parker went to Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel in 2000 – and became a star abroad.
The Raptors brought him back to the NBA in 2006 and he became a key player for the team that won the Atlantic Division title that season.
Parker achieved double figures in scoring for the Raptors for three years before concluding his playing career with the Cleveland Cavaliers for three seasons.
Wojnarowski writes that the Magic is also promoting Assistant GM Pete D’Alesandro to Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. D’Alessandro is the former general manager of the Sacramento Kings.
