Rainier D. Ridder will return to ONE Championship circle in One night fight 10 On May 5th it will be the first time he will compete since his first loss to Anatoly Malekhinbut he will return in a submission grappling in a super battle Ty Rotolo. There was no depression for the Dutchman, who simply got back on his horse and prepared for his return.
“There are two options. After the fight, I could choose to go, “I’m so sad that this happened, my young age.” But I am a very lucky man. And I choose to do this myself, and I’m going to turn this into a positive. I know I can. I know I can beat this guy. And the sweetest comeback from this defeatDe Ridder said.
The “Dutch Knight” admits that, perhaps, he was too arrogant in the match with Malekhin. He went into one light heavyweight title defense of the world title as an undefeated athlete who rarely sustained damage. But now that he had suffered his first loss, that indomitable aura had vanished.
And De Ridder knows he’s competing for himself. There is no false narrative or attempt to build a brand around his home life. He does not use his family to complete his image. De Ridder competes because he loves the sport, nothing more, nothing less.
“I always thought I’d do these things for my kids, but I really don’t. I do them for me. I love the fight. I love the thrill. I love the thrill. Because I can take care of my family with anything else, I can provide for all the other things I do for them. They’ll be fine.” And they’ll have to miss my dad for weeks on end when I compete. I do this for me,De Ridder said.
At 1stBank Center, De Ridder and Ruotolo will hit the plate in a masked middleweight contendership contest. The Dutch Knight expects an explosive, entertaining fight and believes he and his opponent share the goal of never being bored. However, he believes the cage will be one of the biggest x-factors in the match.
“I think we might be very similar. We hit a lot of the same moves. We both base our game on standing up. We’re both interested in clearing things up and different things. I think there are more similarities in our games than differences. But the big difference is that I’m used to the cage, And I think they’re both looking forward to the future to start their own MMA journey as well.So I think they might be cage wrestling a little bit.But I’ve been cage wrestling half my lifeMiddleweight world champion said.
While preparing for the private show, De Ridder found himself at New Wave Jiu-Jitsu in Austin, Texas. He learned from John DanaherAnd Gordon Ryan And much more. Although De Ridder admits that Ruotolo has a technical edge, he believes his size and recent training will allow him the ability to capitalize on his massive submission ace.
The search for the ending is paramount to De Ridder. That’s why he says fans should expect a fast-paced war when he tangles with Ruotolo. Regardless of the outcome, “The Dutch Knight” plans to make a comeback in style with ONE’s US debut.
“Explosion – I think you can expect that from both of us. We’re both going to be looking for orders. We’re going to be looking for takedowns. We’re going to push the tempo and push the paceDe Ridder said.
