Tottenham are in the beginning phase of rebuilding, with young players being loaded. With the benefit of hindsight, how did they do in last year’s draft?
Tottenham go into this season with great hope. Obviously, they won the Victor Wimpanyama lottery. They also have a lot of first round picks in the coming years. The majority of their extra picks come from the Hawks but they also have first-round picks from the Celtics, Raptors, and Bulls. Yes, their future is very bright because of Wembanyama but they definitely have the options to surround a lot of talent.
They also had three first-round picks in last year’s draft, and with their rookie seasons behind them, we can assess how well they’ve fared.
Reclassified Tottenham 2022 draft picks: 3. Jeremy Suchan, Grade B+
Jeremy Suchan was named the ninth overall pick last season. He came out of Baylor and was picked around where he was ridiculed in the draft. He has been a very strong force on offense with the Spurs this season and it looks like he will be able to make a career in the NBA.
You could say Tari Eason (who was named 18th seed was MVP this season) but honestly the difference is so small that it doesn’t really matter.
Jeremy Suchan has been one of the best rookies in the league this season. He was a solid rebounder and created enough offense, averaging 11 points per game. In the future, he could be a double machine and a very strong player in this league.
It didn’t really offer any star potential in the first year. Most likely he won’t be a familiar but could be a solid starter/high quality player in this league. For the ninth pick in this draft, this is a very good return and could be an important part moving forward.
