LOS ANGELES (AP) – Nika Ogomiki scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Los Angeles Sparks beat the Dallas Wings 93-83 on Sunday.
Ogwumike, named to her eighth All-Star game earlier in the day, scored six points in the final four minutes to give the Sparks (7-7) room to breathe. Her free throws at 1:03 made it 88-81 and the Sparks made it five of six in the last minute to pull away.
Derekah Hamby added 17 points for the Sparks (7-7) and Carly Samuelson added 14 points.
Crystal Dangerfield and Ariki Ogunbole each scored 18 points for the Wings (6-8). Tierra McGua added 14 points and Natasha Howard added 13 points.
Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally were also announced as All-Star starters but did not have matching games. Ogunbowale was 6 of 18 shooting, including 1 of 9 from 3-point range, and Sabally was held to eight points while dealing with foul trouble.
Kalani Brown’s goal had put Dallas leading 79-78 with 51/2 minutes left to play, but Dumby responded quickly with a stop. The Wings missed their next four shots before Ogomeki took an 8-2 lead in the next three minutes.
Dallas trailed by as much as 12 points in the first half but scored 53% to beat 10 turnovers to tie the game 44-44 at the break. Ogunbwale scored 11 points in the second quarter.
The Wings opened up a 71-60 lead with less than two minutes left in the third quarter on a Destany Henderson hit and Samuelson hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Ogomik converted a three-point play to put the Sparks back in and lead the Dallas drive. 73-71 heading into the fourth quarter.
Dallas calmed down, finishing with a 43-percent game percentage.
