It’s been nearly eight months since the beginning of 2022 college football season, and just days before 2023 NFL DraftI’m doing something a little different on this penultimate mock draft. CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco has been doing this for years – mock draft teams around should do – Its ’23 version will be released on Tuesday. It’s a great idea because it gets you on the record, plus it gives fans an easy way to point out where you’ve been criminally wrong.
So here is what I think NFL teams You must do it on Thursday, during the first round of the draft. Sneak peak: I have five quarterbacks coming off the board (two of whom are selected after teams trade in the first round), six defensive backs, and five offensive linemen—although the former didn’t hear his name until pick #9.
Round 1 – Pick 31 – Mock trade from the Kansas City Chiefs
Will Levis QB
KFC • SR • 6’4″ / 229 lbs
Expected team: Tennessee
PROSPECT RNK: 15
RNK position: 1st
We were in the Levi’s pro day and he built like a linebacker – and watching him throw the ball in person is something to watch, you can actually hear the pass whistle. But questions remain about his ability to field the ball in all three, as well as some inconsistencies when he rolls to his left. In this, our “what should happen” mock draft, the Giants traded us back to the first round for the Levis for a fifth-year option. Ryan Tannehill is 35 and entering the final year of his contract, and Malik Willis doesn’t appear to be included in the team’s long-term plans. (Titans trade picks 41 and 72 to move to #31)
the previous Texas Longhorns 12 Defensive Player of the Year, San Francisco 49ers fore and Texas The fifth round draft pick joined the Chiefs during free agency on a two-year contract with a maximum value of $20 million and a base value of $16 million negotiated by Austin-based NFL agent David Mulugeta. The deal includes $8.6 million fully guaranteed and a $7.25 million signing bonus, and Omenihu can’t wait to prove it was a wise investment by general manager Bret Veitch and head coach Andy Reid of the defending Super Bowl Chiefs.
“It feels great,” said Omenihu. “I spoke to Veach a couple of days ago to tell him how much I appreciate it. It’s an amazing organization. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime. I want to take advantage of it and try to bring my talent to the organization and help it out. That’s good man.
“You know they have a winning culture and they will do everything to win. You come in and play your part, be part of the puzzle and go to work, head down and try to get back to the Super Bowl in Vegas.”
Chiefs safety prospects in every round of the 2023 NFL Draft | wire heads
First round: Alabama S Bryan Branch
The Branch (6 ft., 190 lbs.) is the top safety in this draft class for a lot of reasons, but I’ll dwell on versatility. He can line up as a traditional safety, but he can also play corner position in the slot as well (think Teran Mathew) and he’s also returned punts for Alabama. In his senior campaign, he led his team in interceptions (2) and had the most sacks among a defensive back (3), earning first-team All-American honors. He’s easily the best defensive fullback in this category and you just know Steve Spagnuolo will love using him on slashing attacks off the edge.

In the weeks leading up to the show, the professional football player said he attributes much of his success to the Cumberland County town.
“It is an honor for me and my family to have the City of Vineland host a parade for me,” said Pacheco. “It’s important to me because I grew up here and the person I am today is because of Vineland. I love the city and the people there.”

Five things we learned from GM’s introductory press conference BRIT Fitch | the mom
5. Finally, Fitch spoke about the current state of the Chiefs’ wide receiver corps as a whole as he headed into the draft.
Kansas City currently has 10 wide receivers under contract entering the weekend draft, with those being (in no particular order) Marques Valdez-Scantling, Sky Moore, Justin Watson, Toney Cadarius, Richie James, Justin Ross, John Ross, Ehmeier Smith-Marsett, Cornell Powell and Ty Frivel.
Here’s what Fitch had to say about the current lineup of chiefs and what the team might do moving forward:
“I think you’re always looking to pick up more talent and go deeper. There are a lot of players that we like,” Veitch said. “Sure, MVS, Skyy [and] Tony. [We] Bring back Justin Watson [and signed] Richie James. So, we’ve got really good players and we can definitely play there and line up and win games, but I’d say the same thing. [thing] About the offensive line, the defensive line, and the location of the future. We are always looking to be deeper, more athletic and more talented. I mean, we’re happy with the guys we have, but like every team in this draft, we can find ways to improve our squad.”

The Jets and Rackers recently engaged in trade talks about QB Aaron Rodgers NFL.com
With the 2023 NFL Draft kicking off in less than a week, the New York Jets And the Green Bay Packers are hoping to make the trade soon.
The Jets and Packers recently re-engaged in trade talks surrounding their quarterback Aaron RodgersNFL Network Insider’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday afternoon, according to sources.

2017 Draft: John Ross over Patrick Mahomes
The Bengals sit nicely with Joe Burrow currently at the helm of the quarterback team, but there’s an alternate universe where Cincinnati’s QB1 is Patrick Mahomes. in 2017 NFL DraftThe Bengals took the #9 overall pick on wide receiver John Ross. Immediately after that selection, Mahomes moved to Kansas City, where he has since established himself as an all-time talent with two Super Bowl rings on his finger.
Ross played just four seasons with the Bengals and totaled just 957 yards on that stretch. His best year came in 2019 when he tallied 506 yards in eight games, but lost time due to a shoulder injury.
While the Bengals had cemented Andy Dalton as their starter at the time, there was a case in point for them to walk away from him at this juncture if they were bold enough. While he had three years remaining on his contract, there was no guaranteed salary at the time and he was coming off the season going 6-9-1 as a starter. Dalton would then go below . 500 for the rest of his tenure in Cincinnati and eventually leave the franchise after the 2019 season. Again, it would have been a bold move had the Bengals gambled on Mahomes’ potential and ousted Dalton, but it would have paid off in a big way.

The Darlings Project: Parker Washington plays larger than his measurements
How does it fit in with the bosses
If Kansas City selects Washington — likely somewhere in the third to fifth rounds — he will likely play a similar role to Sky Moore in 2022: someone who doesn’t have an immediate offensive role, but who’ll still get a few goals here and there. Stylistically, he resembles Moore – which, at first, could restrict his attacking role.
But Washington could get the upper hand over Moore making contested catches—while showing a similar ability in gaining yards after catch. This could lead to these two being used interchangeably as powerful, solid hole receivers that play bigger than they are.
bottom line
Washington’s all-around ability as a receiver makes him a good fit for the Chiefs. It could give the offense another layer of unpredictability in how they line up their receivers—and give them someone who can make plays before and after catches.
