Nate Diaz debuted in the UFC in 2007, following his success in The Ultimate Fighter. Despite maintaining a noteworthy career with wins over Melvin Guillard, Donald Cerrone, Jim Miller, and “The Notorious” Conor McGregor, Diaz has never hesitated to voice his displeasure with the UFC’s contracting and promotional practices.
In 2022, prior to the final fight of his long-term contract, Diaz announced on “The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani” that he had been looking for free agency since 2012 when he fought Benson Henderson for the lightweight title.
In Nate Diaz’s newly released documentary “Hit ‘Em Up” by Pineapple Dojo MMA, viewers are given a unique representation of Diaz’s frustrations as well as his rise to stardom following his victory over McGregor at UFC 196. Diaz is accompanied in this story by comedian Shane Gillis, who He became a fan of the Diaz brothers’ bravado as well as their philosophical approach to the fighting game as a whole. Both the fighter and the comedian share a similar disdain for modern business, which is expressed through their dislike of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s involvement in the sport of MMA.
