GRERI, South Carolina — Michael Feigles putt a 25-foot birdie putt on one last hole to putt a 12-under 59 Thursday in the first round of the BMW Charity Pro-Am at the Korn Ferry Tour.
It was the ninth under 60 in developmental tour history and the second this year. Mac Meissner shot 59 in the second round of the LECOM Suncoast Classic in April.
Feagles started his tour on the back nine at the Thornblade Club, turning 6-under 30 and closing with five consecutive birdies. He finished with 12 finches and six mares.
“She never got a chance to shoot a 59,” said the 25-year-old former Illinois player. “That was my first, like, real chance. So, I’m 1 on 1.”
Figgles is the nephew of Jeff Figels, who played 22 seasons as a punter in the NFL. Michael turns pro in 2021. His best finish of the year is a tie for 25th at the Astara Chile Classic in April.
“I finally feel like I’m getting it together,” he said, “and I obviously put it together really well today.”
His 59 was good for only two runs ahead of David Skinns, who shot 61 at the Thornblade Club, and Josh Teater, who shot a 10-under 62 at the Carolina Country Club.
