The Independent Infractions Commission handed out a two-year prison sentence and a 10-game ban to former LSU basketball coach and current McNeese State men’s coach Will Wade on Thursday for multiple rule violations.
The ruling came from a panel of the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP) and determined that Wade failed to report potential violations, made cash payments to prevent disclosure of potential violations and failed to cooperate with the investigation. The case also involved violations associated with the Tigers’ football program, which resulted in both programs being placed on probation following penalties previously imposed.
The basketball case originally grew out of a federal investigation into corruption in college basketball, as Wade was shot by LSU in March 2022. He was hired by McNeese State earlier this season.
A reason penalty until June 2025 means Wade cannot perform any off-campus recruiting activities during the April and summer evaluation periods. There are also additional conscription restrictions against it.
IARP will be eliminated after the slate of referred cases is finalized, a move announced last summer as the NCAA tries to modernize its offense process and make it move more efficiently.
With LSU’s ruling, that only leaves Kansas with a case still pending at IARP.
