Justin Thomas wasted a little time before taking a friendly putt to golf’s newest champ, Windham Clark.
Thomas, Clark and Max Homma are grouped together for this week’s Travelers Tournament. While Homma and Thomas missed losing at the US Open last week at the Los Angeles Country Club, you may remember that Clarke putt the same on the 72nd hole to beat Rory McIlroy by one and claim his first title.
This aforementioned trio was a featured group on ESPN+ on Thursday morning, and on the 12th hole—their third of the day—all three players hit their tee shots in a similar spot on the par-4.
Thomas had 66 yards but in the rough area, Homma had 69 yards and Clark had 74 yards. Thomas played first, and nailed it 10 feet down the hole. Clark was next, but before he hit he needed Thomas to mark his ball, just in case.
Thomas replied? The clip has since been removed from social media, but you can hear Thomas quipped: “Guy wins one match – the US Open and you got the 80-yard mark?”
However, it should be noted that this was a joke, and Thomas did not mutter to himself in disgust. An ESPN+ stream showed Thomas talking and looking at Clark and Homma as he walked to the green, Homma, Clark and Clark laughing, John Ellis.
