Anthony Davis He was reportedly confined to a wheelchair after a head injury while on the run Lakers‘Game 5 loss against the WarriorsAccording to TNT’s Chris Haynes.
Davis received an elbow to the head from Golden State’s Kevon Looney late in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game.
After the loss, coach Darvin Hamm gave an update on Davis’ condition, stating that the 30-year-old was “doing really well”.
“He took a shot in the head. He seems to be doing a really good job,” Hamm told reporters via Mike Trudell from Spectrum SportsNet.
Los Angeles is set to host Game 6 on Friday at the Crypto.com Arena, and is currently holding a 3-to-2 series lead. Hamm gave no indication of Davis’ availability for that match.
The play occurred in the fourth quarter after D’Angelo Russell made a layup on the drive. Davis was trying to follow up the shot for a possible offensive rebound when Looney swung his elbow and grabbed the Lakers star right to the side of the head. Davis was removed from the game and taken to the locker room, and was unable to return.
Ham’s update is certainly a positive, given the situation, and fans are hoping Davis can recover in time for Friday’s critical mile.
