Since losing his job as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kyle Dubas has made his first public statement. Since leaving, the young executive has remained radio silent, but we now know additional details about what happened.
Recently, Kyle Dubas and his family thanked all of the dedicated members of the Maple Leafs organization in a statement posted to Twitter. This is the full quote:
“While I understand there has been interest in the circumstances of my departure, I will not go into detail about what I consider to be reasonable, consistent but private discussions. On days when I felt I needed to assess and evaluate my own view of the future, both in regard to the necessary direction of the club and ensuring that I had the full support of My family for what I knew was needed in the off-season and years later, the organization decided, as is its right, to go in a different direction.
In the nine seasons since we’ve had the opportunity to work in the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs, we’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot and have grown significantly through the ups and downs. We’ve watched our family double in size while developing meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime. It’s been an honor to be able to work in such an inspiring place, with such dedicated and dedicated people and a very passionate fan base. The impact of that and the relationships with everyone at MLSE, from the board of directors to the mentor at Scotiabank Arena, will forever hold a dear place in our hearts.
To the players, coaches and staff at the facility every day, past and present, I thank you for your passion and commitment in every step of the journey together. It has been a pleasure working with you every day. We’ll roll from here.”Dubas family
It’s nice to hear from Dubas again, and we can only speculate as to what he might do next. For now, it looks like he’ll be spending some time with his family before re-evaluating his options.
