Warriors star Klay Thompson is a descendant of Lakers players, and it was recently revealed that his uncle may be filming a documentary about LeBron James.
Talk about a huge loss. The Golden State Warriors saw their season come to an end in 2022 at the hands of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
James finished the game with 30 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in 43 minutes of action, even delivering some triple daggers Steve Curry-style.
It was a solid performance and team effort from the Lakers, who cruised to the Western Conference Finals to face the Denver Nuggets. In a West Coast series in which Klay Thompson looked like a desiccated shell from his once sharp shooting form, Thompson may soon suffer another loss, one beyond his control.
Rumor has it that Thompson’s uncle, Andy Thompson, is now collecting footage of LeBron to turn into a “Last Dance”-style documentary series.
Andy Thompson, who collected footage of Michael Jordan during the Bulls’ 1997-98 season to produce “The Last Dance,” was reportedly filming LeBron during the Lakers’ 2022 postseason run, according to John Ireland, a radio announcer for the Lakers.
There’s no definitive evidence that Andy Thompson is seriously considering making a LeBron documentary series in the future, but the similarities are certainly there.
Klay Thompson’s uncle seems like the main Stan LeBron, maybe make a movie about him
Ireland said in a terrible ad podcast:
“Hopefully I’m not talking out of school here. Andy Thompson, who shot The Last Dance, has spent a lot of time with us this year. So if LeBron wants to go that route, I think Andy is stockpiling that just so he has the chance and he has The opportunity to tell the story.”
Is this LeBron’s last dance? This is a difficult question to answer. If the Lakers make it to their bottom line and win their fifth Seal, they may want to end their career on a high note and retire. On the other hand, LeBron has repeatedly expressed his desire to play with his son, Bruni, and may hold out for at least a few more years.
LeBron is currently in his 20th season, and his reputation really speaks for itself. This year alone, he has overtaken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league’s all-time leading scorer. He just earned his 19th All-NBA selection, the most by a player in league history. He stomped all over the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round and knocked out the NBA champ this past weekend.
The goat controversy surrounding him, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan never ends and may never end, but out of those three, LeBron is the only one whose story hasn’t hit the screens yet.
Of course, LeBron still plays ball. This interesting chapter of his story is still being written.
Given that “The Last Dance” docuseries took over 20 years to make, Andy Thompson’s footage of LeBron will likely have to be archived until a LeBron documentary (possibly called LeDocumenary) goes green.
Klay Thompson and his family continue to give the Lakers more wins. Clay, who shot 3 of 19 from the field and 2 of 12 from behind the arc in Friday’s loss, is essentially Laker Emeritus at this point. Game 6 Clay has nothing on LeBron James.
