The stage is set for an epic battle in the NBA Finals between one of the greatest underdog stories in league history and a team looking to win their first title in franchise history.
The Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets kick off Thursday night, with Game 1 at Mile High City at Ball Arena.
In typical Jimmy Butler fashion, the Heat’s star forward isn’t a flashy-fashion forward like so many players across the league are, but a single jersey with a simple message for his team facing an uphill battle once again in the NBA playoffs.
Butler wore a T-shirt before the first game with a simple and profound message, via ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azzarli.

As usual, the Heat will be underdogs again in this seven-game series, with the Nuggets favored to win it all with two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic leading the way in Denver.
Although Miami faces long odds for what will be the franchise’s fourth NBA title, the Heat seem up to the task and ready to prove the doubters wrong again during the postseason.
As for the Nuggets, Denver entered Game 1 relieved after making an easy run for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, with a four-game winning streak against LeBron James.
Although the Nuggets are favored, the Heat can’t count in this series, which will almost certainly make for an entertaining showdown in the Finals.
