The latest trend in sports broadcasting, and television in general, is streaming services, and they are slowly replacing cable and satellite subscriptions as the preferred way to watch sports, news, and entertainment programming.
Many, if not most, professional sports teams have been slow to adapt to this new trend, but the NBA has just joined the broadcast revolution.
The Utah Jazz are launching a company called SEG Media that will stream the team’s games over the air for free.

For decades, the only way to watch NBA games was on a major network like ABC or, formerly, NBC or CBS, and those networks usually only aired a certain number of games on weekends.
Then came the advent of cable television, which let fans watch every game their team played but required them to purchase a subscription, a burden on many American families considered working poor.
But these days, streaming services allow these fans to watch games for less or even for free.
The Jazz began a rebuilding process last summer when they replaced All-Stars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell after maximizing their potential as a group.
The team was expected to fall into the basement this season, but they started 10-3 and were fairly competitive throughout the schedule.
Utah has some good, well-rounded young players like Lauri Markkanen, Jordan Clarkson, and Walker Kessler, not to mention a bunch of future draft picks that could produce some stellar players.
