The Denver Nuggets pulled off an impressive Game 5 victory over the Phoenix Suns. After dropping two in a row, the Nuggets responded the way they needed to have a chance to close out this series. Denver won 118-102. Jokic had another hat-trick, but the other story of the game was how both teams got over each other. Especially after the third quarter brawl between Jamaal Murray and Landry Shamet. Many speculated about a possible dispute between the two players, but Jamal was quick to dismiss the claims when asked in post-match press.

Denver Great Game Five Wins Game
Jamaal Murray produced an impressive second half after struggling in the first half. In the first half, Murray had only two points on 1/6 shooting. However, his altercation with Chamett was the fuel he needed as he helped the Nuggets pull away in the second half and finished the night with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds and a field goal percentage of 46.7%. When asked about the incident, Murray said:
“Sometimes I just need a little bit of an energy boost for myself and once I’m on offense it’s kind of a game-changer. He’s playing defense. He’s trying to pressure me and trying to do his work and I’m trying to do his work too. It’s just a ball.” comma basket”.
With that statement, it just seemed like the heat of the moment in a high-intensity playoff. Regardless, this is a match to watch out for going forward in the series.
Jamal murray qualifiers so far
Jamal has been dubbed “The Playoff Murray” for good reason. Throughout his career, he has always raised his game at some point in the post-season. Much like players like Jimmy Butler and teammate Nikola Jokic. For his playoff career, Murray averaged 24.7 points, six assists and 4.3 steals per game while shooting 47.0 percent from the field. In this postseason, the Blue Arrow averaged 25.9 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.3 total rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.
Of course, nothing beats his playoff career in 2020 as he averages 26.5 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 50.5% from the field. Nikola Jokic may be the star of the Denver Nuggets, but Jamal Murray is equally important to that team’s success, especially in a potential NBA Finals run.
