All-Star guard Ja Morant has been suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies after he was seen wielding a gun in an Instagram Live video this weekend. the video Showed up early Sunday May 14th.
Morant was in a parked car with three other individuals. The Grizzlies star sat next to the passenger while Devonte Pack sat in the driver’s seat and posted the video on his Instagram account (@_dtap2). Pack played college basketball at Friends University and played in the Miami Pro League with Morant. He owns a clothing brand called MBNO – short for My Brothers No Others and he used to work near Morant with his clothes.
The group was listening to music, with Morant and Pack sharing more than the individuals in the back seat. Morant is then seen holding a gun in his left hand. The pack quickly moved away from Morant, but screenshots from the footage clearly show the weapon.
a statement of the Grizzlies says Morant has been suspended from all team activity while the NBA reviews the situation.
This is Morant’s second comment due to the firearms flash on social media. In March, the 23-year-old was suspended for eight games after he fired a gun during a live broadcast on his Instagram account. The incident occurred days after police reports emerged that Morant assaulted a mall security guard and jumped a teen at his home in Memphis.
Morant entered a counseling program in Florida after the accident but left after only two days. That same week, ESPN’s Jalen Rose told On interview It was better in a vacuum. However, members of the media expressed their concerns, insisting that 48 hours into the program did not solve the problem.
Morant returned to the field with his team right before the playoffs. The Grizzlies’ season ended in the first round after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
