Jon Jones decided to take over Twitter while Max Hollway and Arnold Allen were giving a 25-minute master class at UFC Kansas City on Saturday night.
The UFC heavyweight champion was originally slated to face off with former two-time defending champion Stipe Miocic this summer during the annual International Fight Week festivities. Unfortunately, that no longer appears to be the case after UFC President Dana White claimed Jon Jones had disappeared after returning to UFC 285. Bones resurfaced on social media Saturday night, digging into Miocic while answering some queries. fans.
Jones kicked things off, responding to a comment by Miocic who implied that ‘Bones’ was the one knocked out of the heavyweight bout.
“I put a method on for a few weeks and then you convince yourself I’m afraid of you,” Jones said chirp. “Here’s everything you need to tell yourself an old timer.”
From there, Jon Jones dropped a bit of a bombshell, suggesting that his inevitable story with Stipe Miocic could, in fact, be his last.
“How cool would it be to spend my retirement fight dominating the biggest heavyweight ever, in my home state of Madison Square Garden?”
Jon Jones’ exit from combat sports entirely with a win over Stipe Miocic would come as no surprise. After dominating the light heavyweight division for over a decade, Bones moved up to heavyweight after a three-year break. Defeating top contender Cyril Jain in just over two minutes to win the division’s biggest prize, a victory over Stipe Musicek will likely cement his legacy as the greatest fighter in mixed martial arts history. After that, there would be little incentive for Bones to stay, apart from cashing the occasional paycheck from Uncle Dana.
Jon Jones suggests his fight with Stipe Miocic could take place in November at MSG
Continuing to respond to fan inquiries on Twitter, Jon Jones confirmed that July is definitely out of the question for his meeting with Stipe Miocic. However, Bones suggested that a November date at the most famous arena in the world could be in the cards for an upcoming heavyweight title fight.
