On Friday afternoon, one of the first moves in NBA free agency was the Golden State Warriors agreeing to a four-year, $100 million deal with veteran forward Draymond Green.
Although there’s been a lot of speculation about what Green will do this summer, as he was linked to a few teams before free agency, like the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers, he chose to stay with the team he re-drafted in 2012.
Despite the loss of longtime General Manager Bob Myers after the season, who decided to walk away from the franchise and hand the job over to Mike Dunleavy Jr., the Warriors kept their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Green.
Free agent Draymond Green and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul have agreed a four-year, $100 million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors, according to sources. @tweet @stadium. The $100 million deal contains a 4-year player option.

It seems as though the fans are torn about Green returning to Golden State, or it could simply be that other teams hate him, because he’s the kind of player opponents hate and teammates love.
Interestingly enough, the Warriors have had a lot of success recently before free agency, with the team dealing guard Jordan Paul to the Washington Wizards in exchange for veteran point guard Chris Paul.
Green did not get along with Paul, as the two stars got into a fight practically ahead of the 2022-23 season, leading to speculation about a deal or team selection between the two.
The Warriors clearly appreciated Green over Poole, which was likely the smart move as it saved the team some cover space going forward and brought back the team’s undisputed leader on defense and in the locker room.
