NBA suspended Draymond Green for game 3 of Kings–the Warriors series on Thursday night, after the forward stomped on Domantas Sabonis and got in with the Kings crowd in game two. Therefore, Green missed Golden State’s massive 114-97 victory during his second-ever postseason suspension.
On Friday, for the first time, Green spoke publicly about his suspension, which had to do in part with the fact that he was previously suspended.
“I never knew you could be suspended for a blatant 2 that happened seven years ago,” Green wondered on his podcast, referring to the time he was suspended in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals for accumulating four blatant fouls during the playoffs in that general. “I also didn’t know you could be suspended for interacting with a crowd turning you on and shouting your name.”

Although Green said it was hard for him to enjoy the game, he was pleased that his teammates performed well and got their first win of the series. However, he said the hardest part of the suspension was feeling like he was letting the team down.
“Not being able to participate in a dogfight, it’s overwhelming,” Green said. “You feel like you’re leaving them there on their own, leaving them astray to figure it out.”
The veteran will return to Golden State’s lineup on Sunday for Game 4, as the Warriors look forward to the series.
