Donte DiVincenzo has turned down his $4.7 million player option with the Golden State Warriors for the 2023-24 season, sources say. Using his non-bird rights (starting at 120% of his previous salary), the maximum Golden State can offer him is four years, $23.2 million. However, ESPN’s Bobby Marks estimates a maximum of $5.4 million.
His projected four-year deal is $30 million less than what the team might offer with the non-taxpayer mid-level (NTME) exception. A new collective bargaining agreement goes into effect on Saturday, July 1, that strips teams of a mid-level taxpayer exception if they are more than $17.5 million over the luxury tax threshold.
According to a few NBA betting sites, the Golden State Warriors hold the fifth-shortest odds of winning a championship next season in 2024. Check sportsbooks showing better odds with the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns.

Now, the Warriors have entered free agency worth $14.7 million on top of the luxury tax. Draymond Green is reportedly asking Golden State for a three-year extension. Re-signing Green should be a top priority this season for new General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr.
DiVincenzo turned down the $4.7 million player option that’s part of a two-year, $9.255 million deal he signed with the Warriors last July. His contract also carries a 15% trade bonus. The 26-year-old made $4.5 million last season.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr helped DiVincenzo improve his shooting last season by changing his finger position on the ball. “I rarely say anything to our players about their shooting, but this thing really helped me in my career as a shooter,” Kerr told NBC Sports Bay Area in April.
“It was just widening the fingers of the ball, changing the position of the ball so the ball would come off more than the middle two fingers. Now you’ve widened the grip, you can now control the ball a little bit more with those two fingers. That was just something I noticed. His hand was really tight on the ball.”
Donte DiVincenzo appreciated Kerr’s advice. “There’s a different perspective,” said the Warriors guard. “You have a coaching perspective. Coach Kerr obviously coaches me every day. But I think it’s different with the way it’s been handled.
“This is coming from an ex-player, ex-shooter. You can either take it, but you don’t have to take it. It wasn’t like, ‘Hey, you have to do this.’ I respected that big time. And it actually sunk a little deeper, so You will.”
