Being between clubs on the golf course can spell all kinds of disasters on your scorecard. Not only does it make you think a lot about the shot you plan to hit – wondering if you pulled the stick right or hit the wrong one – but it also requires you to adjust your swing to make sure you hit it a little more or less. More power.
Sure, it’s important to know how far each club gets, but what can you do if you’re not sure about which club to choose when it comes to the target drop zone? Get a little creative.
This is where Brian Mogg of 100 Best Golf Teachers suggests making some small tweaks to your golf setup – which can be seen in the Instagram video below.
As Moog discusses in the video, when you’re between clubs, focus on your setup first.
“When you’re between clubs, do two simple things,” says Moog. “Just choke the iron down, narrow your stance, and keep the ball in the middle of that short iron.”
Now that you’re choked up, Mogg says to stand confidently on top of the ball and take a full swing as you normally would.
Even if you hit it (which is always the goal anyway), by combining the two mods above, the result will be about half a bat.
So whether you’re between clubs due to weather conditions or something else, using Mogg’s easy setup tips will allow you to see great results – and take the stress out of your shots.
