UFC President Dana White has not committed to giving Neil Dariusz vs. Charles Oliveira winner the next lightweight title.
Saturday night, the co-main event of UFC 289 will feature Charles Oliveira’s bout with Benel Dariush. In the eyes of many, this is the kind of match that should determine a new number one contender to the UFC Lightweight Championship. This belt, as we know, is held by Islam Mukhashef, who beat Oliveira for the belt last year.

Both men have already achieved great things in this department. However, while the “Do Bronx” actually held the gold, Dariush didn’t even get the chance to fight for it.
According to Dana White, beating the Brazilian is not entirely guaranteed to get a meeting with Makhachev.
“I have no idea,” White replied when asked about the stakes in the UFC 289 co-main event. “We’ll see how the fight goes on Saturday but yeah, it obviously makes a lot of sense.
“Here, now, it makes a lot of sense. We’ll see what happens.”
