Dana White announces a stacked UFC 291 card headlined by Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.
“The Diamond” and “The Highlight” have been in talks to fight for a while now. After Gaethje won a unanimous decision over Rafael Fizeev in March, he called a rematch with Poirier. Game one in April 2018 was an instant classic, with the Louisiana native winning by a fourth-round stoppage.
Five years after their first match, they will now have a rematch in July. Earlier today, Dana White announced the full UFC 291 lineup at Live broadcast. There, he revealed that Poirier and Gaethje would headline the Utah-based card in a five-round battle for the ceremonial title. JORGE MASVIDAL famously held the title until his retirement after losing to Gilbert Burns in April.

The co-main event of UFC 291 also promises to be a gunfight. Former middleweight champion Alex Pereira heads up to the light heavyweight division to take on former defending champion Jan Blasovic. ‘Poatan’ announced his plans to gain weight after losing to Israel Adesanya last month.
Next on the main card is a middleweight bout between Paulo Costa and Ikram Aliskirov. The Eraser will come off a win over Luke Rockhold in August. Meanwhile, Aliscroft scored a first-round knockout victory over Phil Hawes in his promotional debut earlier this month.
Finally, rounding out the UFC 291 main card are two notable veterans. At lightweight, Tony Ferguson will face Bobby Green in his comeback. Meanwhile, the welterweight contenders Michael Chiesa and Kevin Holland will face off in the opening match of the main card.
Moreover, there are also several high-profile fighters competing on the undercard of UFC 291. The welterweight bout is scheduled between Stephen Thompson and Michelle Pereira, as well as the heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis and Marcos Rogerio de Lima.
