Dak Prescott: Consecutive seasons, 12 wins show the Cowboys are ahead – Sharyn Williams, PFT
Dak Prescott feels the arrow is definitely pointing at Dallas.
Still, Dallas has reasons for optimism.
The Cowboys are off winning back-to-back seasons, 12 wins for the first time since they won three Super Bowls in four seasons in the 1990s, and made offseason trades that led to appearances by Stephon Gilmour and receiver Brandin Cox. They also added a starting defensive tackle and a tight end in the first two rounds of the draft.
“You can take two 12-win seasons this season and build,” said Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott at 96.7 The Ticket, via John Machuta of TheAthletic.com. “It’s the first time in my career that I can say I feel like there are back-to-back seasons developing. Going back to 2021, we were able to build. We built that year, and we can build again. I think this is your real best chance to make that happen. You have to knock.” You have to see how it feels. We have it now, you feel more comfortable; you’re excited about the details and the changes we’ve made to the offense and just the team. I’m looking forward to that with a lot of excitement.”
‘They walked the walk’: Dan Quinn points to Cowboys veterans’ role in mentoring younger players – Todd Brock, Cowboys Wire
The perfect combination of youth and experience can propel the team into the land of promise in 2023.
Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn knows this as well as any coach in the league. His Dallas unit is largely led by rising stars like Micah Parsons and Trayvon Diggs, but it also relies on a heavy dose of seasoned play from guys like DeMarcus Lawrence and Jairon Kerse.
And now with the team’s first-round pick and another promising rookie team expected to step up and contribute their freshman year, Quinn is grateful to have a growing group of mentors in uniform to help show the youngsters the way.
“If I were a young player – Mazie Smith – I would pay almost anything to have Jonathan Hankins mentor me,” Quinn said recently. “If I were Eric Scott, I’d pay almost anything to get Steve[on] Gilmore be in the boardroom: Talk about it, technology, something different. For the players who are here to take that responsibility, knowing that these guys are going to help us play, help us get them up to our standards quickly, I think that speaks to a lot of the dressing room and culture that Mike said. [McCarthy]It was created here.
Hankins and Gilmour bring a combined 21 years of NFL experience to the Cowboys locker room, and are among the four longest-serving pros on the team. Hankins was acquired in a mid-season trade last year and made an immediate impact on and off the field; It soon dawned on Quinn Gilmore to do the same after the club was traded for him in March.
Quinn recalled: “When we signed him, I bet I got 10 or 12 calls or texts to say, ‘DQ, this is your type. You’re going to love this guy. Tell me that much about what, and then the first interaction – just knowing how hard he works, seeing the connection with Tre[von] To start and then with some more – that was really important for me, to see that. To say, “Not only do I have all this knowledge, but I am willing to share this wisdom.” And that’s something really important for coaches to do, but also for seasoned footballers to do if they have the ability to share it.”
3 Cowboys that can be cut down before playing – Randy Gorzy, Landry Hat
Sometimes players don’t make it to a single regular season with a team.
On the heels of a 12-game winning streak, the Dallas Cowboys have assembled a solid lineup that included the addition of Branden Cox and Stephon Gilmour. Dallas is gearing up to make a run in the NFC East again, and they have a solid roster — which means there will be some talented players released as they whittle their tally down to 53.
Because of this competition, there are some players who may be let go before they take on the franchise, and here are three potential candidates.
3. Tristan Vizcaino, K
Over the past two seasons, the Cowboys have been on a roller coaster when it comes to the kickball game. They moved on from Greg Zuerlein, who was not only terrible, but also had his share of frustrating mistakes. Then they tried to roll rookie Jonathan Garibay, but he was so erratic during training camp that they brought back Brett Maher.
2. Ronald Jones, RB
It wasn’t long after Ezekiel Elliott, the cowboy, said goodbye The former Ronald Jones fell in the second round. twice power Champion, jones is coming out of his second title because he was a part of Kansas City Chiefs in 2022.
1. Ben Banogu, EDGE
Another former second-round pick made his way to Dallas in the offseason as they are Ben Banogo added after his release from the Indianapolis Colts. A local prospect, Banogu grew up just six miles away from the team’s training facility and became a star at the National Football League TCU — after a stint with Louisiana Monroe.
The best EDGE room in the NFC East could be a coin flipper – Mario Herrera Jr. Inside the Star
How does the Cowboys stack up against the rest of the division from an edge perspective?
Players were once seen as either run-stoppers or rushers, but not both.
Gone are the traditional titles, and now the ultimate defensive mode is called “edge“.
EDGE players can do it all, and the NFC East has its fair share of those freaks of nature.
My NFC East rankings streak continues today as I analyze each team’s EDGE position.

The Role Call: Lubeck’s Ingenuity Reigns – Nick Harris, DallasCowboys.com
Hunter Luepke’s diverse skill set gives him plenty of ways to make the 2023 Dallas Cowboys.
What then: Luepke is one of the biggest wild cards in the Cowboys’ entire rookie class due to his positional versatility and early willingness to play wherever needed. His immediate contributions will likely come exclusively on special teams, but his potential ability as an offensive playmaker cannot be overstated. During his time at North Dakota State, Luepke drew comparisons to perennial fullback Kyle Jusczcyk for his versatility to catch short first-time runs, lined wide as a true receiving threat and his ability as a pass protector. Dallas will have flexibility with Luepke’s skill set that can unlock an extra layer on offense that not many teams in the NFL are able to capitalize on.
I bet you don’t know: Before arriving at The Star as a member of the Dallas Cowboys for the first time, his only previous Frisco experience came in the FCS National Championship where he won two rings with North Dakota State at nearby Toyota Stadium. In the 2022 edition, Luepke rushed for three touchdowns in a 38-10 win over Montana State on his way to winning the game’s MVP award.
